Who Shopify suits
Shopify suits people who want to sell products online with one monthly plan. Hosting, a checkout and card payments all come in the same package.
Hosting means a company keeps your website online for visitors, so you do not need to find a separate host. Each higher plan also has a lower card rate than the one below it.
If you only need a simple website with a few payments, a website builder such as Wix also takes payments from its Core plan up. If you want a website with no shop at all, read our cheap web hosting guide instead.
Not sure yet? Shopify's trial is 3 days free, then £1 a month for the first 3 months on most plans. Use it to test your shop before you commit.
What it costs
Shopify costs a monthly fee on its Basic, Grow or Advanced plan. Our table takes each price from Shopify's own UK pricing page, so you compare the figures the seller publishes.
Most plans start with a 3-day free trial, then £1 a month for the first 3 months. Paying yearly lowers the monthly fee on every plan. Each plan also takes a small fee on online card payments, and the higher plans charge less.
After those 3 months, you pay the list price shown in our table. Pick the plan you need, then sort the table by real cost to see which option costs least over time.

Questions people ask
- How much does Shopify cost?
- Shopify costs £19 a month on its Basic plan when you pay yearly, or £25 billed monthly. Grow costs £49 a month and Advanced costs £259 a month, both billed yearly. Most plans include a 3 day free trial, then £1 a month for the first 3 months.
- Is Shopify worth it?
- Yes, if you want to sell online with hosting, a checkout and card payments in one plan. The 3-day free trial is followed by £1 a month for the first 3 months on most plans. Online card rates fall from 2% + 25p on Basic to 1.5% + 25p on Advanced.
- What happens after the first year with Shopify?
- After the first 3 months, you pay Shopify's standard list price for your plan. The £1 a month introductory offer covers only the first 3 months on most plans, not the full first year. Renewals stay at that list price, so compare the plan prices on this page before you sign up.
