AffiliateRanked by real cost; commission never changes the order. How we make money. Prices checked on each provider's own site on 25 Oct 2026.

How to find the cheapest broadband for you

The cheapest headline price is not always the cheapest over your contract. Compare real cost instead.

Real cost is everything you pay over the contract. That includes the monthly price, every stated price rise, and any setup or delivery fee. We take off the cash value of any reward card, then divide by the months. Our tables rank deals by this figure, cheapest first.

Next, check what speed you need. Deal tables show advertised speeds, and the speed you get depends on your address, your router and your Wi-Fi. Full fibre means a fibre cable runs all the way into your home. It is worth checking for your postcode too, so see full fibre deals.

Finally, check your postcode on the provider's own website. Availability depends on where you live. Every table shows the date its prices were last checked.

Watch out for these cheap-deal traps

The lowest monthly price is not always the cheapest over your contract. Watch for these four traps before you sign.

  • Setup fees. A joining or delivery fee adds to your total cost. Our real cost figure includes it.
  • Stated price rises. Providers must now show any rise in pounds and pence when you sign up. Check that figure before you buy.
  • Short promo prices. A low introductory price can end and cost more later. Our real cost averages the whole contract, so one cheap month does not decide the ranking.
  • Landline you do not need. Some deals add a landline. If you only want internet, pick a plan without one.

Switching is quick and free

Switching takes one contact with your new provider. Since 12 September 2024, One Touch Switch lets you move broadband this way. Your new provider tells your old one and arranges the switch.

To switch in plain steps:

  • Find your deal in the table and check the date it was last checked.
  • Check your postcode on the provider's site.
  • Sign up with your new provider and give them your details.
  • Wait for the switch to be arranged, then check your new broadband works.

Agreed online or by phone? You have 14 days to cancel under the cooling-off period. Your current provider must tell you 10 to 40 days before your contract ends, and show you its best deals.

Straight answers

Questions people ask

What is the cheapest broadband right now?
The cheapest broadband right now is the deal at the top of our table, ranked by real cost. Real cost is everything you pay over the contract, including monthly prices, stated rises and setup fees, minus any reward card value. Every table shows the date its prices were last checked, so look at that date before you switch.
Is cheap broadband slower?
Speed depends on the connection type, not just the price. Part-fibre (FTTC) uses fibre to the street cabinet, so its speed falls with distance, while full fibre runs all the way into your home. Advertised speeds depend on your address, so check your postcode before you choose.
Can I get cheaper broadband if I am on benefits?
Yes, you may be able to pay less with a social tariff. These are cheaper broadband plans for people on means-tested benefits, such as Universal Credit or Pension Credit. You can usually move to your provider's social tariff without an exit fee.
