Privacy Policy

This policy explains how BuyingExpert (“we”, “us”) handles personal data collected through https://buyingexpert.co.uk. The data controller is the company named in our terms. We're committed to handling your data lawfully, fairly and transparently under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

We collect what you give us, and a record of how the site is used:

• Messages: your name, email and the message you send through our contact form or by email.
• Analytics: the pages viewed, time on page and how far down they were read, clicks, questions opened, form submissions and page-speed measurements, each with the time, the referring website, search engine or AI assistant, your IP address and the network it belongs to, approximate location (city and country, from the IP address), browser, device, language and screen size, and a random visitor identifier kept in a cookie. We record this with our own analytics service and with Google Analytics, to understand which pages help visitors and to improve the site. We never sell it.

How we use it

• To reply to your message and fix any price you report.
• To understand which pages and deals help visitors, and to improve the site.

Our legal basis is your consent when you submit a form, and our legitimate interest in replying to messages and running the site.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted processors to run the site and respond to you:

• Email delivery (Amazon Web Services, EU, Ireland): to send and receive enquiry emails.
• Hosting (Cloudflare): to serve the website.
• Analytics (Cloudflare, which hosts our own analytics service; Google, for Google Analytics).

We never sell your personal data.

Deal links

When you open a deal, you go to the provider's own website. If that provider pays us a fee, the link passes through an affiliate network (such as Awin), which records the click so the provider knows it came from us. The provider and the network handle your data under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

We keep messages for as long as needed to reply and for a reasonable period for our records. You can ask us to delete it sooner. Analytics records of visits are kept for as long as they help us run the site (records of automated traffic are deleted after 90 days); Google Analytics keeps its data for 14 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data, and to object or request portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@buyingexpert.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
