Our checks

How we check prices every day

Every morning our checker opens each provider's own deal page and confirms the exact words that prove each price. Confirmed deals get that day's date; a price we cannot confirm leaves the table.

01

From the provider's own site

Every price in our tables is read straight from the provider's own website. We never copy prices from another comparison site.

Each deal is stored with the exact words that prove its price. These words appear on the provider's page, for example "Full Fibre 150 £26.99".

This applies to every provider we list, including the many that pay us nothing. If a provider changes its price, we update our table only from its page.

02

What happens every morning

Every morning, our checker opens each provider's deal page and looks for the exact words that prove the price.

  1. Open each deal page. The checker opens every deal on the provider's own website.
  2. Look for the exact words. It searches for the wording that proves the price, such as "Full Fibre 150 £26.99".
  3. Confirm and date-stamp. If every word is there, the deal's "last checked" date moves to today.
  4. Re-read and update. If the words are gone, the checker re-reads the page. It changes the price only when the new figures are on the provider's page. The old price goes into the deal's price history.

03

Old prices leave the table

Any deal we cannot confirm for three days leaves our tables. That way, a stale price never sits beside fresh ones. Our checker reads every deal again each morning, so missing prices show up quickly.

If a deal stays unconfirmed for ten days, we mark it as ended.

04

The date on every table

Every table shows the date its prices were last checked: the day our checker last read the providers' pages.

A deal we cannot confirm for three days leaves the table, so every price you see is recent.

Energy price cap rates come from Ofgem's own page, and we check them against Ofgem every day. See today's rates on our energy price cap page.

Spotted a price that looks wrong?

If a price looks wrong, tell us through our contact page. Include the deal name and the price you saw. We check the price on the provider's own website. Once we confirm a mistake, we fix the table the same day. Thank you for helping us keep every price accurate.
