Who giffgaff suits
giffgaff suits people who want flexible SIM-only data on the O2 network. Its 8 plans in our table run from 5GB to unlimited data, so most users will find a fit.
Pick a 30-day rolling plan if you want to leave with a month's notice or less. Choose an 18-month plan if you want a steady price. Contracts on 18-month plans bought before the end of 2026 have no mid-contract price rises.
giffgaff also suits people with no credit history, as it does no credit checks. If you travel in Europe, EU roaming is included on its plans in our table. giffgaff also lists unlimited UK calls and texts.
It may not suit you if you want a network other than O2, because giffgaff runs only on O2. Sort the table by real cost to compare it with other SIM-only deals.
Network and coverage
giffgaff uses the O2 network, so its coverage matches O2's. A host network is the mobile network whose masts carry your calls and data. Every UK SIM-only brand runs on one of four networks: EE, O2, Vodafone or Three. Brands on the same network share its coverage.
giffgaff is community-run and owned by Virgin Media O2, which runs O2. All giffgaff plans in our table include 5G, so you can use it where your area has 5G on O2.
If O2 signal is weak where you live, compare EE SIM-only deals first. EE runs its own network, so its coverage differs.
What it really costs
giffgaff offers 30-day rolling plans and 18-month contracts. Sort the table by real cost to find the cheapest option for you.
Our real cost adds up everything you pay over the contract, including each monthly price, any stated price rise and any setup fee. It then divides that total by the number of months.
giffgaff says its 18-month contracts bought before the end of 2026 have no mid-contract price rises. Any price rise in a new contract must be stated in pounds and pence when you sign up. Percentage and inflation-linked rises are banned in new contracts.
The 30-day plans have no tie-in. You can leave with a month's notice or less. Extras include unlimited UK calls and texts, no credit checks. Check the date on the table to see when prices were last checked.
