Why a 12-month contract

Choose a 12-month SIM if you want a lower bill and your needs will stay the same for a year. A 12-month deal costs less up front than a rolling 30-day SIM. The trade-off is a one-year commitment, so it suits people who are settled.

It suits you if you use about the same data each month and do not plan to change your mobile plan soon. A one-year term gives you a lower price without the longer 24-month commitment.

Our tables rank every deal by real cost, cheapest first. Real cost is the monthly price, any stated price rise and any setup fee, averaged over the contract. Need lots of data? Try unlimited data SIMs and compare them the same way.

12, 24 months or rolling?

Pick a 12-month SIM if you want a lower price than rolling but don't want to commit for two years.

A 12-month plan is cheaper up front than a 30-day deal, but it ties you in for a year. A 24-month plan is also cheaper up front, though you commit for twice as long. Choose 24 months only if you are sure you will stay put.

Need flexibility? 30-day SIMs roll month to month, so you can leave with a month's notice or less. Use them if your needs might change.

Switch and keep your number

Yes, you can keep your number when you switch. A PAC code is what lets your number move to a new network.

  1. Text PAC to 65075 to get your code.
  2. Sign up for your new SIM-only deal.
  3. Give the code to your new network.
  4. Your number moves across in one working day.

Then find your new plan in the table on this page.

Straight answers

Questions people ask

Are 12-month SIM deals cheaper than 30-day?
Yes, 12-month SIM deals are cheaper up front than 30-day SIMs. The trade-off is commitment. A 30-day SIM rolls month to month, so you can leave with a month's notice or less, while a 12-month plan ties you in for the full year.
Can I leave a 12-month SIM early?
No, a 12-month SIM ties you in for the full year. Contracts agreed online or by phone come with a 14-day cooling-off period, so you can cancel within those two weeks. If you want to leave sooner, a 30-day SIM rolls month to month and needs a month's notice or less.
Do 12-month SIM prices rise?
Yes, but any rise must be shown before you sign. Since 17 January 2025, Ofcom rules say providers must state each rise in pounds and pence at sign-up. Inflation-linked and percentage rises are banned in new contracts. We count every stated rise in the real cost, so you see the true price.
